Sam: [comes up behind her, sliding his arms around her]

Paige: [smiles and leans back against him]

Sam: [kisses the side of her head softly] Have a good day?

Paige: [nods] Just a normal day.

Sam: Good.

Paige: You?

Sam: Good. But there's something I wanted to talk to you about, actually.

Paige: Hmmm?

Sam: *moves to turn her around so that she's facing him* This is about a friend of Owen's. Dean asked me to talk to you about it because she might need a place to stay.

Paige: [raises a brow] And he wants us to take her in?

Sam: Her dad beats her, Paige. Dean figures we've already got one teenage girl ...

Paige: Oh god…

Sam: [nods] Her name's Zoe, and from what I can tell she's new in town, but if Dean's gonna do something about her dad, he doesn't want Owen to hate him for making his friend disappear.

Paige: [and in a moment it all starts to fall into place] Wait...Zoe? Zoe from Owen and Phil's school?

Sam: [frowns] I ... guess? This is the first I've heard of her.

Paige: ...that's a lot to take on, Sam. I'm not saying we shouldn't but...it's a lot. You know that, right? We don't have a lot of room as it is and there's some serious baggage that comes with it all.

Sam: I know. I know. But there has to be ... something we can do, right?

Paige: [sighs. she wants to tell him that she might know a little more about Zoe, but she also knows there's more to sort out first. She isn't going to keep it from him, but she needs to talk to her sister first. ...her sister.] Yeah...we can. We can talk to Piper. I mean...I can talk to Piper.

Sam: Do you think she'll do it?

Paige: Piper can't not take care of people.

Sam: Fair point. [nods] Okay. Ask Piper.

Paige: Okay. [reaches up to kiss him softly. She loves him for being the guy he is and the way he wants to take care of someone he doesn't know]

Sam: [kisses her back, one hand resting on her hip gently] Thanks, Paige.

Paige: Tell Dean we'll figure something out, okay?

Sam: [nods] I will.

Paige: And...let's not talk to Phil about this just yet, okay?

Sam: [nods slowly before raising an eyebrow] Okay ...

Paige: I know I can't shelter her from everything, but...I can try, can't I?

Sam: [thinks on that and nods] Yeah, okay.

Paige: Thank you.

Sam: [nods] I'll go let Dean know.

Paige: Okay.

Sam: [wanders off to go call his brother]
